A calm approach to dental care for nervous patients in Buckie, Keith & Forres

At 8to8 Dental, we understand that for some people, a dental appointment comes with a little anxiety. We can help make these appointments comfortable for you with our intravenous sedation services. Whether it’s anxiety, past experiences, or simply feeling unsure about treatment, these concerns can sometimes delay the care you need.

Our sedation service offers a calmer, more supported way to move forward. It allows you to feel deeply relaxed during treatment while remaining responsive and safe throughout.

Sedation is carefully tailored to you, helping make everything from routine appointments to more complex treatments feel more manageable.

What is dental sedation?

Intravenous sedation is a simpler and safer procedure than hospital general anaesthetic. You will be accompanied by the treating dentist, the sedationist and a nurse.

You will be in a very relaxed but conscious state and will have little recollection of the procedure or ‘getting numb’. A chaperone will be required to accompany you home.

As part of your pre-treatment consultation, your dentist will provide you with a treatment plan to achieve dental health. You will subsequently meet our sedationist to assess your suitability for treatment.

Who is dental sedation for?

Sedation can be helpful for patients with:

  • Fear of dental treatment
  • Difficulty getting numb
  • Very sensitive gag reflex
  • Long complex dental appointments

Why choose sedation at 8to8 Dental?

We provide sedation as part of a well-supported, carefully planned approach to care.

  • Experienced clinicians and trained sedation nurses
  • Available across our Buckie, Keith & Forres practices
  • Used for a wide range of treatments, including implants and extractions
  • Focused on helping you feel calm, informed and in control

This is about creating a more comfortable pathway into treatment, not rushing or overwhelming you.

What happens during dental sedation?

First, we’ll start with a consultation to make sure sedation is right for you and to explain everything about the process.

If you go ahead, on the day, sedation is given through a small cannula, helping you feel relaxed within minutes while your treatment is carried out. You’ll be carefully monitored throughout, and afterwards you’ll need someone to take you home, with clear aftercare guidance provided.

I went to 8to8 dental Keith on recommendation of a friend when I couldn't make the appointment with my usual dentist in Speyside. My usual dental clinic had quoted around £1,500 for a root canal treatment and some minor treatment against sensitivity. The same treatment was £180 at 8to8 Keith. Thank you Dr Fadia for the most pain-free injections and for saving a tooth that most dentists would have extracted. The whole treatment easily matched the standard I was accustomed to from various excellent private dental clinics I have been with over the years.

All the staff are very friendly and the building itself is clean, modern and well kept. Each treatment room I have been in has been large, clean and well organised. I was especially pleased with the treatment received with the covid restrictions. The only drawback is the waiting time for an appointment but again was a covid issue. I normally hate dentists but would happily recommend this practice. The dentist himself Mr Kabre had a very nice, friendly and chatty manner. Being nhs the costs were cheap compared to the private practices I used to use. All round highly recommend.

Customer service and dental care by expert dentists are both exceptional because customer service is quick to answer the phone, caring and patient over the phone and do their utmost to book you in for a fairly quick appointment that lasts less than a month as opposed to waiting months. The dentist I saw (twice now) was just lovely, female, expert, caring and efficient. In addition, the dental practice is a modern, bright super clean building with spacious surgery/treatment rooms. From my first day there my experience has been 100 per cent positive. Thank you all at 8to8Dental.

How long will I be relaxing for?

Depending on your needs, from two to six hours.  You may also rest for 3-4 hours when you get home.

Will someone need to accompany me?

Yes, due to the sedative effects of the medication, you will need a responsible adult to drive you to our clinic and home again. You must not drive or operate any machinery until the day after your intravenous sedation.
